A migraine diary that builds the record you can show your doctor
MyGrain is a migraine and headache diary for your phone. You log each episode — type, pain intensity, duration, symptoms, triggers and the treatment you took — and the app builds the history you cannot keep in your head: a colour-coded calendar, monthly reports, trends, and a count of how often each trigger, symptom and treatment appears in what you wrote.
It is made for people living with migraine with or without aura, tension headache, cluster headache or menstrual migraine — and for anyone whose neurologist has asked them to “keep a headache diary” before the next appointment.
Log an episode in seconds
No account needed to start. Log today, or fill in a past day by tapping it on the calendar — and mark your pain-free days too, so your history counts the good days as well.
Type and intensity
Migraine with or without aura, tension headache, cluster headache, menstrual migraine or a migraine-free day, with pain intensity from 0 to 10 and how long the attack lasted.
Symptoms and warning signs
Nausea, light sensitivity, dizziness and more during the attack — plus the pre-symptoms you noticed in the hours before it started.
Triggers
Sleep, stress, food, alcohol, hormonal changes, screens — and any trigger you add yourself.
Treatments and how well they worked
Record what you took and rate how well it worked, episode by episode, so your own ratings are there when you and your doctor go over them.
Places, activities and notes
Where you were, which activities the episode affected, and free notes in your own words.
Weather, automatically
Temperature, atmospheric pressure and conditions are attached from the city you set in Settings. No GPS is used.
What MyGrain gives you back
Your log stops being a list and becomes something you can read — and hand to your doctor.
Calendar
Month, two-week and week views, with every day colour-coded by type of episode and a legend to read it at a glance.
Monthly reports
How your month splits by type of episode, with the full breakdown of the symptoms, triggers and treatments you recorded.
PDF report for your doctor
Export the month as a clean PDF and share it with your neurologist or GP before your appointment.
Trends
How your frequency moves month by month, and your runs of consecutive days with pain and without it.
Your triggers and treatments, counted
How many of your entries each group of triggers appears in, how you rated every treatment you took, and a reference page on each one. A summary of what you logged, not a verdict on what sets off your attacks.
Sleep, activity and pressure
If a watch or a band writes your sleep and your steps into Apple Health or Health Connect, MyGrain compares the days before your attacks against your own baseline, and says plainly when there are still too few records to conclude anything. It also counts how many of your episodes fell on low-pressure days.
Medication overuse warning
A heads-up when your use of acute painkillers reaches overuse range, or when your log matches a chronic migraine pattern. Observations about your own data, never a diagnosis.
Track every type of headache
- Migraine with aura
- Migraine without aura
- Tension headache
- Menstrual migraine
- Cluster headache
- Migraine-free day
Each type has its own colour on the calendar and its own description inside the app, so your diary matches the diagnosis you actually have.
Keep your treatment on track
Medication catalogue
Analgesics, NSAIDs, triptans, preventives and more, grouped by family, each with reference information: what it is used for, dosing, contraindications and side effects.
Dose reminders
Set a reminder per treatment at the frequency and time you choose, plus a daily nudge so you do not forget to log.
Preventive habits
Hydration, regular sleep, moderate caffeine, avoiding known triggers — tick them off each day, right next to your episodes.
Home screen widget
Today at a glance without opening the app: type of episode, symptoms, whether you took a treatment, and your next reminders.
Your health data is yours
MyGrain asks for your explicit consent before storing health data, and uses it only to make the app work. We never sell it and there are no ads; to run the app we rely on service providers such as Google Firebase, which store and process it on our behalf. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from your profile, and lock the app behind Face ID or your fingerprint.

MyGrain, answered
Is MyGrain free?
Yes. Logging episodes, the calendar, the treatment catalogue with dose reminders and the home screen widget are free, and there are no ads. An optional Premium subscription unlocks the trend and trigger-summary screens, the sleep and activity comparisons, the full report breakdown, PDF export and unlimited habits; current prices are shown inside the app before you buy.
Do I need an account to use MyGrain?
No. You can open the app and start logging straight away without signing up. Creating an account later keeps your diary backed up in the cloud, so you can get it back on a new phone.
What data does MyGrain store?
Only what you log: type of episode, pain intensity and duration, symptoms and pre-symptoms, triggers, treatments and how well they worked, place, activities, your notes, and the weather for the city you set. It is stored with your explicit consent, never sold and never used for advertising, handled only by the service providers that run the app, and you can delete all of it from your profile.
Will MyGrain tell me what causes my migraines?
No, and no diary can. MyGrain shows you what you recorded — how often each trigger, symptom and treatment appears in your entries — and, with Premium, compares the sleep and the activity before your attacks against your own baseline. Those are summaries and comparisons of your own data, not a diagnosis and not a list of your causes. What sets off an attack is a conversation for you and your neurologist; the report MyGrain exports is there to make it a better one.
Does it work for tension headache or cluster headache?
Yes. Besides migraine with and without aura, you can log tension headache, cluster headache, menstrual migraine and migraine-free days. Each type has its own colour on the calendar and appears separately in your reports.
Can MyGrain produce a report for my doctor?
Yes. MyGrain exports the month you are viewing as a PDF with your episode types, symptoms, triggers and treatments, ready to share with your neurologist or GP. PDF export is part of Premium.
Can I log a migraine that happened on a past day?
Yes. Tap any day on the calendar and the entry is created for that date, so you can catch up on the days you were in too much pain to log.
Which languages is MyGrain available in?
Twenty-five: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Indonesian, Hindi, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, Turkish, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Polish, Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Hebrew, Czech and Ukrainian. The whole app is translated, including the catalogues of symptoms, triggers and treatments.
Is there an Android version?
MyGrain runs on Android as well as iPhone, and the Google Play release is on its way. The iPhone version is available on the App Store today.
