No account: how it works
When you open MyGrain for the first time it creates an anonymous session, so you can log your first episode straight away without an email or password. Your diary is stored on MyGrain's servers (Google Firebase) under that anonymous identifier. If you later create an account, the same diary is linked to it and you can get it back on a new phone. You can delete your data from your profile at any time.
Without a connection
Entries you save, edit or delete without a connection are queued and synced when you are back online, so you can log an attack where there is no coverage.
Privacy, as declared in the stores
On the App Store, MyGrain's privacy label lists data linked to you (such as health data, purchases, coarse location and contact information) and no data used to track you. On Google Play, its Data safety section says that no data is shared with third parties, that data is encrypted in transit and that you can request its deletion. MyGrain asks for your consent before storing health data and shows no ads.
What MyGrain does not do
MyGrain is a self-tracking diary, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, it does not tell you what causes your migraines, and it does not replace your doctor. What it gives you is an organised record to take to your appointment.
